The workshop will bring together MBE growers, advanced characterization specialists, and RTD physics experts to discuss recent advances in the theory and practice of crystalline silicon/oxide hetero-interfaces, grown by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE). Epitaxial Oxide/Silicon/Oxide stuctures, grown hetero-epitaxially on Si, can be employed for extending CMOS circuits by enhancing MOSFET technology with a new resonant tunneling diode technology (RTD). RTD co- integration with CMOS for memory and logic applications is expected to result in faster, denser and less power hungry circuits.

Conference venue and schedule
The workshop will be held in Villa Olmo on the banks of Lake Como. Hotel rooms have been reserved in hotels in the old city, all within walking distance of the conference site. Como is easily reachable by public transport from Milano's Central Station and Milano Malpensa airport. Participants arriving at Milano's Orio al Serio or Linate airports should take the airport shuttle to Milano Central Station. The workshop program will start on Tuesday September 12th at 9.00 and finishes on Wednesday, September 13th at 17.00.
